
HP laptops are like most other laptops, including a sound card to integrated board, if you want to improve the sound quality, or if you want to use advanced editing and recording, you may need to install a new sound card HP notebook PC. There are two different types of sound cards for laptops. Here are the instructions for installing each feature.

- Sound card
- HP notebook
Installing a PCMCIA sound card on your laptop HP
1) Locate the PCMCIA slot laptop HP. In most HP laptops, the PCMCIA slot is on the left side of the front of the computer.
2) Press the button “PC Card eject”.
3) Remove the cover from the PC card. So you will hold that if the new PC card is removed later.
4) Insert the PC sound card with the top up label. Gently push it into place.
5) The computer will beep to indicate that the card has been recognized.
6) Install the necessary drivers and software from the CD that comes with your new sound card.

Installing a USB sound card on your laptop HP
1) Turn on the computer.
2) Plug the USB sound card into the appropriate USB connector on your laptop.
3) Wait for the computer to recognize the new USB device.
4) Insert the CD sound card manufacturer if asked to do so.
Tips & Warnings
You can install the PCMCIA card while the computer is running if your computer supports hot-swapping. The operating system automatically recognizes the new hardware and software to find it.

The newest ship laptops without PCMCIA slot, only the ExpressCard slot. As of this writing, no sound cards that conform to the ExpressCard slot. You will need to use a USB sound card or system. If you really want to use a PCMCIA sound card in your HP notebook without PCMCIA slot, you need a PCMCIA express adapter card as the Duel Systems adapter.
Some sound card manufacturers include rapid installation CD with your hardware. If a CD is included with the sound card, follow the instructions on the CD, but only install the drivers and software necessary for your computer model and operating system.
