First and most important is to have a graphics tablet. It may seem silly and even I myself came to think that the mouse is not retouched so badly and it is possible to get interesting things taking a little longer. Big mistake!

Developers Batch Capture One as Lightroom or just provide control over the image and rough edit and generally, without adjusting for areas. My advice is to reveal as flat as possible, without contrasting too much or too coarse adjustments. We just need to adjust the exposure, some very strong dominant and immediately turn to Photoshop to make adjustments of contrast, color and final details.

The workflow
“A place for everything and everything in its place.” We have to establish how we are going to work the image. We can start creating adjustment layers like crazy and go playing sliders until you find something that we like.
Typically, start with cleaning the picture with the timely correction or frequency separation. Then we can go on with the Dodge and Burn to pass color correction and final adjustments. We should always respect a series of steps to work with an order and guidelines because otherwise we could throw us four hours to retouch an image.

Adjustment layers? Just two
Why create thousands of adjustment layers with different sliders to get the same? The curves and hue / saturation are the only two layers we need. They are the most potent and with which we can adjust the color and exposure of our photography. All other adjustment layers, must know that GUIs are curves in different blending modes and that certain adjustments are applied.
For color, yes, I use another as selective correction to play some specific tones but all Photoshop adjustment layers are the result of a calculation on curves.

Exporting JPG
When finished working with a photograph, sometimes we forget some minor adjustments, as might be embedding ICC profile, quality or size. Theirs is that we keep both the PSD (or PSB) as the highest quality JPG or security if we save a certain size, it might be more practical to create an action to keep it in that specific size whenever we want.

Before and after? No thanks
The golden rule when retouching your photos pronouncement is that never teach the before / after. As a professional, is the result that counts, not from which parts? If retouching is natural and without fanfare, it is well done though photograph of professional. Unnecessary controversy will make you lose time and therefore money, so not worth a minute of your time trying to justify a retouch.
