I am not a supporter of big brands and franchises, as I believe that ‘essence’ of what 100% genuine is lost and that in the end, it seems that one can enjoy the same food anywhere in the world if you go to one of these premises. However, no, Planet Hollywood in New York is more than a great franchise of American restaurants, and on our second trip to New York could not resist the temptation to enter and therefore will not share it today with this post.
The Planet Hollywood restaurants spread ‘around the world‘, all under the theme of characters in Hollywood (obviously) and a food menu could be called as a typical American. However, the New York restaurant goes a little further … well, like everything else in the city. Starting with its location in the Times Square, a huge local and, to make it more special, located on the second floor of the building where it is located, hence you have to access it through their elevators or stairs.

As for the decor, it’s what is expected of this franchise restaurants but all over-sized: life-size figures of various characters, clothes and original accessories from some of the most famous movies ever, planes and hanging ships roof … in short, Hollywood reduced to a few meters in the New York. The atmosphere is, though sometimes ‘weary’, a show, and that throughout dinner a speaker is responsible for your enjoyment encouraging staff, releasing occasional theme music of all kinds and, if any of those coincides with a birthday celebration (as was our case), the type in question comes up every so often encouraging the entire restaurant to congratulate the song mode / the birthday boy / a.
The personal attention I have to emphasize that, in our case, it was excellent. They undertook to assign us a friendly waiter speaking, which was presented immediately with the best smile, cards in hand, and so all through dinner. Constant attention, fast service and friendliness in abundance. A 10 for the boy!
And as to the letter, which you can see for what was expected: BBQ ribs, burgers of those that do not fit in the mouth, chicken in all its varieties and types (roast, BBQ, coatings …) pizzas and classic American restaurants starters: bacon cheese-fries, onion rings XXL, wings, chicken nuggets … all accompanied, of course, by endless refreshments. In short, nothing stood out in terms of choice but if I have to recognize that food is of sufficient quality (better than expected at least), with hearty dishes, tasty meats and the “average” price of these types of restaurants. If I remember correctly, a starter, 2 burgers, drinks and a dessert to share was around $60.

So now you know, if you want lunch or dinner at Planet Hollywood New York, do not doubt that even if it is a restaurant franchise experience, local and food well worth a visit if only once in life.

You cannot miss, because as I said it is located in Times Square, but just in case its exact location is 1540 Broadway and is open every day of the week for both lunch and dinner (without interruption).
